Writing is Revision
Revision is when the real writing begins. I find myself often wanting that first draft to be over so I can move on to revision. That's when I find out what I really wanted to say.
Tom Jenks, co-editor of
writes about revision:
'A Brief Handbook of Revision for Writers'
"My writing is a process of rewriting, of going back and changing and filling in. In the rewriting process you discover what's going on, and you go back and bring it up to that point."—Joan Didion
"I don't think anything I've written has been done in under six or eight drafts."—E.L.Doctorow
