It's Getting to be that Time of Year

I recently listened to the best music of the last decade and have read a number of "best" lists that range from athletic feats to zany facts.

Since books are a passion for most writers and most reviewers —lists of "best books" are inevitable.

Best Fiction of the Millennium for The Millions

And if you're into language try Stephen Dobson: Language Hat

And then take a look at Philip Lopate's A Year in Reading

My best "read" for 2009—Colum McCann's Let the Great World Spin

Any books you want to suggest?

  1. How strange you should mention "Let the Great World Spin". I felt guilty that I hadn't read a book in so long after I wrote my Kindle piece so I downloaded three books to my Kindle and am reading them now all at the same time. One of the books I downloaded was "Let the Great World Spin" and I'm enjoying it so far. The Kindle says I've read 42 percent of it. In between I'm reading "A Confederate Girl's Diary" and "The Worst Hard Time".
