At this time of year—
When the day quits too early and the darkness claims sovereignty, I like to pick through my stack of unread books. The pile is never high enough. I like variety— perhaps a ponderous tome, or a mystery, or fiction, or non-fiction — or poetry.
A British friend told me about a game for people who love books and writing.
"It's great," she wrote, "for long winter evenings."
From the box:
“Could you be the next literary giant? Do you have the kind of vocabulary that it takes to be great? We’ll give you five challenging words on cards. You write a story using them in one minute! Share your stories and laugh for hours! Add up your points to be the first to earn 300 and win!”
