I recently borrowed John McPhee's new book of essays: Silk Parachute and marveled at his use of language, the care he takes with every sentence, every word.
One of my favorite essays, and the first essay of the collection, is about his mother. I found a link to an Excerpt of that essay.
A John McPhee profile by Susan Salter Reynolds in the Los Angeles Times. Thanks to the Narrative blog for that link.
